Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 cup green olives, chopped (optional)
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 package of empanada dough discs (10–12 discs)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Oil for frying or baking
Instructions
- Step 1: Prepare the Filling
- 1. Cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat.
- 2. Add onions and garlic, sauté until soft.
- 3. Mix in spices and other ingredients.
- 4. Allow to cool before filling the dough.
- Step 2: Assemble the Empanadas
- 1. Roll out the dough discs if necessary.
- 2. Place filling in the center of each disc.
- 3. Fold and crimp the edges securely.
- 4. Brush with egg wash.
- Step 3: Cook the Empanadas
- 1. Fry in hot oil until golden brown.
- 2. Alternatively, bake at 400°F for 20-25 minutes.
Notes
Empanadas can be made in advance and frozen. Reheat by baking or frying from frozen for a quick meal.
