Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with heart-shaped liners.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together dry ingredients: flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In another bowl, beat eggs and mix with oil, vanilla, and milk. Combine wet and dry ingredients gently.
  • Fill cupcake liners about two-thirds full and bake for 18 to 20 minutes. Check for doneness with a toothpick.
  • For frosting, beat softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, then mix in heavy cream until smooth. Add food coloring if desired.
  • Once cupcakes are cool, frost them with a piping bag and decorate with sprinkles.
