Italian Sliders on Hawaiian Rolls

These Italian sliders on Hawaiian rolls are a perfect combination of savory Italian sausage, gooey mozzarella, and zesty marinara sauce. Quick to prepare and a hit with kids and adults alike, they make for an ideal appetizer or main dish!

Ingredients

  • 12 Hawaiian rolls
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Optional: Fresh basil for garnish
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking dish with parchment paper.
  • Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping the tops and bottoms attached.
  • In a medium skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage until browned, breaking it up with a spatula.
  • Drain excess fat, then add marinara sauce and Italian seasoning, stirring until heated through.
  • Place the bottom half of the Hawaiian rolls in the baking dish and spoon the sausage mixture over them.
  • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan on top, then place the top half of the rolls over.
  • Mix melted butter, garlic powder, and dried parsley in a small bowl and brush over the tops of the rolls.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for about 15 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let cool for a few minutes, garnish with fresh basil if desired, slice into individual sliders, and serve warm.

Notes

Use sweet or spicy Italian sausage based on your preference.
Feel free to customize with additional toppings like sautéed vegetables or different cheeses.
These sliders can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
