- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened

Instructions
- Step 1: Preparing the Puff Pastry: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut out heart shapes and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Step 2: Creating the Filling: In a bowl, mix softened cream cheese with your choice of fruit preserves or jam until smooth and creamy.
- Step 3: Assembling the Hearts: Place a dollop of the filling on one heart, top with another heart, and crimp the edges with a fork to seal.
- Step 4: Baking the Puff Pastry Hearts: Brush the tops with the beaten egg and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Step 5: Serving Suggestions: Allow to cool slightly, dust with powdered sugar, and serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
You can use homemade puff pastry for a richer flavor. These pastries can also be frozen before baking for later enjoyment.
