  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line a 9×13 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  • Melt the unsalted butter and let it cool. Whisk in granulated sugar, then incorporate eggs one at a time. Stir in vanilla extract and red food coloring.
  • In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • For the cream cheese frosting, beat the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth, then mix in powdered sugar and vanilla extract.
  • Once brownies have cooled, lift them out using the parchment paper, cut into squares, and frost if desired.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use high-quality cocoa powder.
Gel food coloring can be used for a more vibrant color.
Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for longer storage.
