- For the Cream Cheese Frosting (optional):
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line a 9×13 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- Melt the unsalted butter and let it cool. Whisk in granulated sugar, then incorporate eggs one at a time. Stir in vanilla extract and red food coloring.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- For the cream cheese frosting, beat the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth, then mix in powdered sugar and vanilla extract.
- Once brownies have cooled, lift them out using the parchment paper, cut into squares, and frost if desired.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use high-quality cocoa powder.
Gel food coloring can be used for a more vibrant color.
Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for longer storage.
