Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup active sourdough starter (fed and bubbly)
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Step 1: Prepare the Dough – Combine the active sourdough starter, warm water, sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Stir until well combined. Gradually add in the all-purpose flour, mixing until the dough begins to come together. Knead gently until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Step 2: First Rise – Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise for about 4 to 6 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
- Step 3: Shape the Knots – Lightly flour your work surface and turn the dough out onto it. Divide the dough into equal pieces, roll each into a long rope, and tie it into a knot. Place each knot on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Step 4: Second Rise – Cover the shaped knots and let them rise for about 1 to 2 hours. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Step 5: Bake the Knots – Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Step 6: Brush with Garlic Butter – Prepare the garlic butter by mixing melted unsalted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and salt. Brush the knots generously with the garlic butter mixture.
Notes
For best results, allow knots to cool completely before storing in an airtight container. They can be kept at room temperature for up to two days.
